Bunny Babies, Birds, Bonnets, and Buttons!

Bunny babies

I am so happy to finally get around to showing some of the wonderful creations from my blogging friends! I haven't yet shown my atc's from The Vintage Dragonfly swap, my panels from Karla and Beth's Birds and Bonnets Swap, or these darling baby bunnies made by Mary!

Mary purchased these sweet bunny babies cupcake picks from my shop a little while ago, and she was nice enough to send me a picture of what she made with them. I think they turned out so cute! They look like they should be characters out of a darling children's book, don't they? I could see them having sweet names like Petunia, Rose Cakes and Cuddlebug. I want to buy my own item back from her now that she has altered them! How funny is that! Thanks for sending me the picture Mary!

I would like to share with you the wonderful ATC's I received from the Vintage Dragonfly Feathered Friends Vintage ATC Swap .

I love the dove and flowers that Laurie used, and I think anything looks great with a crown or party hat on, like Mahala 's birdie!

Here are the others I received...

Sarah always makes something just too darn sweet! I love her style! And Mary Ann blew me away with her handmade wire birdcage on her ATC! How unique! I love it! Thank you so much girls, they have a place of honor in my craft room.

Next I want to share the panels I received from the Birds and Bonnets Swap. I know this happened awhile ago, and I am so sorry I am just now sharing. Better late than never!

I love the Parisian feel of this panel by Josie Chow, really elegant!

This one by Stephanie is really pretty. I love her use of ledger and old numbers.

Robin's color choices and floral theme are very sweet! Love the nest!

Kathy added vintage sheet music and a darling bird to the wallpaper background to make this super sweet panel!

Thanks to all these talented girls for their artwork! And thank you too to Beth and Karla for hosting the swap, I know your poor hands must have really hurt punching holes in all these panels!

Lastly, it is not too late to sign up for my "Show Me Your Form" Party.  Many people have asked how I made my button for the swap ( yes, that is the button I am speaking of in the title of this post!) A big thanks to this sweet lady, Suzy from Scrap Wizard.

I searched and searched for a dress form to use for my button and she had these great custom templates for super affordable prices! The best part is I was able to easily transform it into what I needed. Thanks for all your help Suzy! Go and visit her site, she has lots of great stuff, you won't be disappointed!

That's all for tonight, I just got back from the movies, I took my two daughters for a mommy/daughter night to see Mama Mia!

My daughter Natasha ( the one with Rett Syndrome) couldn't sing along, but she laughed the whole time to the music, and Lexi and I have had ABBA songs stuck in our heads all night! We sang at the top of our lungs on the car ride home. Out of tune and loving every minute! Was the movie corny? Yes! Was the music silly retro? Yes! Was Pierce Brosnan one hot papa? Yes! I am not ashamed to admit I loved it! ( of course the music helped, I have always been an ABBA fan!)

Have a great day,

xoxo, Tiffany

Show and Tell Sunday ~ Vintage Ephemera

Blog pics 1696 copy

Welcome to Show and Tell Sunday! I know we have all been so busy during the summer, but I have to say, I am glad to be playing along today!

First things first ~ the disclaimer. All photos on my blog are copyrighted and please do not use any without my permission. These ephemera pictures are not intended for personal or public use of any kind. Thank you for respecting that. Now, on with the show!

I consider myself a huge collector of ephemera, in fact, it is my favorite thing to collect. I am a bit of a thrill seeker, so I like to hunt for my treasures, rather than buy them on ebay. I know for some out there, ebay is as big a thrill, but I much prefer digging through dusty bins in basements and back alleys! Now that's what I call exciting! That is just where I found these exquisite pieces. Check out the date on these!

Blog pics 1690 copy

Yes, that does say 1880's! I get so turned on by fancy font, it's not even funny! How can you look at this and not get all tingly inside! Somebody stop me!

Here are some more beauties from my private collection.....

Blog pics 1693 copy

This ice cream piece is one of my favorites. I especially love looking at the addresses of old ephemera. Quite interesting!

Vintage ads are really fun to collect. Here are some more for perfume, buttons and shoes.....

Vintage Sheet Music is one of the most fun things to collect, the most easily found and the most versatile. You can frame it, collage it, wrap a gift in it, the possibilities seem to be endless. I always look for sheet music covers that have fabulous graphics, like this....

and this....

 Blog pics 1697 copy

One of the most unusual pieces I have found over my years of collecting is this vintage Vacation Bible School Rally post card. It is so sweet!

Another type of ephemera that is highly collectible and usually easy to find are Victorian and vintage greeting cards. They have such beautiful colors and pictures, I can never pass them up. I literally have hundreds of these types! I know, I need a twelve step program to kick my addiction! Ephemera Addicts Anonymous ~ Founding Member!

Here is something I am a new collector of, but I am finding it really fun! It isn't easy to find, but that makes it all the more interesting. It is vintage hotel ephemera. Again, one of the most fascinating aspects for me are the addresses!

Blog pics 1702 copy

Can you imagine the day when there were so few people your address could just be "Sioux City 5, Iowa" ? How I long for that type of simplicity. On a tangent....I think we should follow in many European towns footsteps and all have to name our homesteads something clever rather than having boring numerical addresses! Ok, tangent over, back to ephemera......

I told you I really am a connoisseur of ephemera. I have a little snippet of just about everything! Here are vintage labels....

Aren't their colors and graphics outstanding! Sure makes me want to buy what they are selling! I would buy A loT more KETCHuP if Heinz would package it with pink roses. And come on ladies...tampons....don't you think we deserve some extra special packaging for that? Multi Million Dollar Ad agencies, are you listening?

Here's something Cutie Patootie for you to look at. This vintage baby shot record book I purchased at Jubilee Market in London...

Blog pics 1710 copy

Last but not least, I picked out two of my favorite pieces of ephemera in my collection. First, this sweet and simple Valentine's card...

Blog pics 1711 copy

And lastly this sweet box I found at Fremont Market made with vintage ledger papers. I just fell in love with the words on top, and I keep all of my extra special trinkets in it.

Thanks for joining me today for Show and Tell Sunday ~ Vintage Ephemera. Thanks to our hosts Cerri and Analise for a plethora of topics!

Until next time,

Eureka! The Story of Nadia ~ Part Two

vintage dress form show and tell

Thanks to you all for the wonderful advice I received about how to keep Nadia from the fire pit! I have to say that I think my favorite bit of advice was "to use my womanly powers on him". Now, if I could just find where I put my womanly powers, I would be in business! In the meantime all of your ideas turned on a light bulb over my head. You know what I need to do? I need to call out to all you lovers of all things vintage to pull out your dress forms and show them off to me so I can prove to my husband that there are others out there like me! I am bound and determined to prove to him that I am NOT nuts!

So, on Friday, August 1st, I am hosting a "Show Me Your Form" Party. Here's how it will go. Take photos of your dress forms. These can be fancied up however you like, or with just your bathrobe hanging on them. This also extends to mini dress forms you may have altered for a craft project or gift. If it's a dress form, I want to see it! Please be sure to include your dress form's name if she has one ( and you know she MUST have one!) so once again, I can prove that I am not certifiably insane for naming an inanimate object! Come on, what are these men thinking, they have been naming their cars, boats and trucks ( along with certain anatomical parts) for years! And I am considered insane?!?!?!?

Leave a comment on this post telling me you want to participate and I will post all the links on my site on Friday morning. If you do not have your own blog site, please still join in by emailing a photo and brief description and I will post your photos on my blog. Be creative if you like! But please help me! I have to show there is more than one wacky woman out there who buys ugly corpses and names them!!! ( ok, that did sound a little insane, I should rephrase that last part...) Please help me show that there is more than one woman who loves all things vintage and revels in their beauty!

Feel free to copy the widget on my sidebar and add it to your blog to let others know you will be participating. Let us women unit and stand up for all the vintage dress forms of the world! Save them from the fire pit!!

xoxoxo, Tiffany & Nadia
